Ensuring stable and clean energy supply
We are continuously investing in a diversified clean energy portfolio with the aim to support the energy transition. The integration of renewable energy assets into the electricity mix requires utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) to help manage the intermittent electricity generated by solar PV and wind. BESS can balance the fluctuating production of renewable energies and thus support the switch to clean energy.
To ensure a stable grid and help build out the much needed clean energy assets across Europe and APAC, we are investing in battery energy storage systems. We seek hybridisation potential by connecting our clean energy projects directly with BESS whenever possible.

Battery Energy Storage Project Update in Strübbel, Schleswig-Holstein
In the north German town of Strübbel we have reached an important milestone with the battery units delivered to the site. The Elementa battery containers are a crucial part of this 50 Megawatt and 100 Megawatt-hours project ensuring reliable energy storage and high system stability.

Battery Storage Project in Strübbel, Schleswig-Holstein
Paul Schacht, Project Manager for BESS, is introducing the standalone battery energy storage system “Strübbel” in Northern Germany. Designed to optimise energy efficiency and stabilise the grid, the Strübbel facility will store clean energy and support up to 120,000 households during peak demand.

Large-scale battery storage systems are an important component for the realisation of the energy transition, as they can balance the fluctuating production of renewable energies and thus support the switch to clean energy.
